Message from Mayor Richman | April 17, 2020

Posted on April 17, 2020

I was so encouraged today when I saw the results of our collective efforts in flattening the COVID-19 curve. You could see the pride on the faces and in the words of Dr. Henry and Health Minister Dix. I’m grateful for each and every single one of you for taking your own roles seriously in keeping our families, our friends, our seniors and compromised healthy and safe. It proves this action has, and will, continue to save lives.

It’s also very clear that the Province is committed to making decisions based on evidence and data, and that when we start to open up a little, it will be in a safe and calculated way. That ‘way' is yet to be determined, but I’m confident in the leadership and expertise of Dr. Henry’s team that those next steps will come when we are ready.Despite the good news shared today, Dr. Henry also warned that we are still in the eye of the storm and we must remain diligent and 100% committed while they continue with their projections on how to best introduce us to our ‘new normal’.

I encourage you to check out today’s presentation from Dr. Henry at: https://news.gov.bc.ca/files/COVID19_Update_Modelling-DIGITAL.pdf

There’s no question that despite the positive path we are on, we continue to deal with uncertainty and anxiety around this. There are many available resources and if you are struggling with anything, from accessing those resources to wondering ‘what next’, please continue to reach out to me with your questions and concerns so I can help to connect you to the support you need.

Have a great weekend,

Mike
