Visiting the Fitness Centre

Things you need to know before visiting the facility:

Members can purchase Fitness Memberships online. *Student and Senior passes are not available online. Please call us directly at 604-894-2340 to book this. 

It is imperative that Members please adhere to the following;

  • Stay home if you are sick or displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.  
  • Use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility.
  • Check-in with attendant at the front desk.
  • Patrons are required to change their footwear and store their personal belongings in the designated area by the reception desk.
  • Wipe equipment before and after use. Spray cloth, wipe and allow surface to air dry.
  • Do not move equipment. 

Value Added Classes (which are included in your membership) are being offered as well as 6am Fitness Classes (not included in your membership) - please refer to the Recreation Programs and Camp Information page for days and times of all group fitness classes. The process will be the same as described above. Participants must register prior to the class in order to attend.

  • Drop-ins are now available space permitting.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes before the classes (up to 15 minutes), latecomers will not be able to attend.

Cancelling your booking

It is of the utmost importance that patrons cancel their Value Added and Drop in Sport bookings if they cannot attend as spaces are limited!

Cancellation is NOT currently available online, please call 604-894-2340 or email pemrecinfo@pemberton.ca

Fitness Space

Fitness Centre

The newly re-organized Fitness Centre strength space has a selection of cardio equipment including: treadmills, ellipticals, Keiser spin bikes, step mill, recumbent bike, a Concept 2 row machine and ski erg.

Strength equipment includes: squat racks, plate-loaded equipment, cable towers, dumbbells, weight machines, hip thruster bench, medicine balls, kettlebells, fixed barbells and Plyo boxes.

Fitness Services

Value Added (VA) Classes

Value added fitness and Yoga classes are included with your fitness membership at no extra charge. Register early as class sizes are limited. Classes will be held in Room C.

Youth on Weights

Youth on Weights is a mandatory 3-hour (2 x 1.5 hour sessions) fitness orientation necessary for individuals 13-15 years of age wanting to utilize the fitness centre or attend fitness classes at the Pemberton and District Community Centre. The orientation must be facilitated by a certified personal trainer and should occur at the Pemberton and District Community Centre.

 

Steps to get your Youth on Weights:

2. Attend orientation sessions and complete Youth on Weights checklist and exam.

3. Ensure instructor signs off on completion of Youth on Weights with the Pemberton and District Community Centre.                                                         

Registrants must pay the drop-in fee of $5.50 plus GST for each session. Registrants must also negotiate with instructors a fee for service for the facilitation of orientation.

10 Tips to Follow for an Enjoyable Work Out

A healthy lifestyle requires a healthy workout environment! To ensure everyone enjoys their workout we have 10 simple etiquette rules to take note of -because everyone deserves to make the most of their exercise.

  1. Be courteous and respectful of others
  2. Place your belongings in lockers
  3. Turn your cellphones to silent mode
  4. Wear appropriate workout attire (ex: clean T-shirts, shorts/sweat pants, clean athletic shoes)
  5. No open toe shoes, sandals or sock feet
  6. Replace weights in rack after use - no dropping!
  7. Share equipment and clean it after use
  8. Be respectful of cardio equipment use if others are waiting (30 minute max)
  9. Use a clean towel during your workout
  10. Don't bring food into the weight room

Please note: only people aged 13 and older are allowed in the weight room. 13-15 year olds must have attended Youth on Weights.
