Local Support Brings New Accessible Ramp to PDCC

Posted on August 13, 2025

This week, construction work has commenced at the south entrance to the Pemberton & District Community Centre for the installation of a new accessible ramp designed to make it easier for everyone to access and enjoy the facility.

This project is a joint effort between the Village of Pemberton’s Recreation Services Department and the Pemberton & District Public Library, with funding generously provided by the RBC Community Infrastructure Grant, Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, Employment and Social Development of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund Program, Village of Pemberton and Squamish Lillooet Regional District jointly funded Recreation Services. The support from these local charities reflects the strong spirit of collaboration in our community, enabling us to work together to make public spaces better for everyone.

The new ramp will improve access for all visitors, whether they’re using a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, walking with mobility aids, or simply looking for a gentler way to enter the building. It’s a practical improvement that will have a lasting, positive impact on how community members experience the PDCC.

This work aligns with the Village’s Accessibility Plan, which is focused on creating inclusive, welcoming environments in line with the Accessible BC Act. We believe public spaces should be open to everyone, and upgrades like this are an important step toward that goal.

We appreciate your patience as we complete the work. We can’t wait to welcome you to the improved entrance soon.
