Heavy Rainfall Update & Pemberton Area Closures

Posted on January 30, 2024

The River Forecast Centre is upgrading the High Stream Flow Advisory to a Flood Warning Issued for the Lillooet River and tributaries.

Water levels in the area remain elevated due to the runoff from yesterday's rainfall and snowmelt. The Lillooet River near Pemberton (WSC 08MG005) is currently flowing at 715 cubic meters per second, which is considered a 5-year to 10-year flow rate and is expected to see small additional rises through Tuesday morning and afternoon.

Some areas may begin to experience reduced water flow on Tuesday, however ongoing hazards remain for increased flows on Wednesday and Thursday due to the effects of the last atmospheric river, bringing sustained rainfall and additional snowmelt to the region.
