Emergency Kits and Evacuation Plans: Be Ready Before You Need To Be

Posted on May 07, 2025

During wildfire season, things can change quickly. Having the right supplies and a clear evacuation plan can make all the difference when minutes matter.

Build Your Grab & Go Bag
Every person in your home should have an emergency kit ready to go at a moment’s notice. Essentials include:

  • Water and food for 72 hours

  • Medications and first aid supplies

  • Copies of important documents

  • Flashlight and batteries

  • Pet food and comfort items for children

  • Phone charger and power bank

Keep your kit in an easy-to-reach location, and review its contents each season.

Make a Household Evacuation Plan
An evacuation plan should answer these key questions:

  • Where will you go if you need to leave quickly?

  • What route will you take?

  • How will you stay in touch with family or friends?

Practice your plan with everyone in your household, and don’t forget to include pets.
