The BC Wildfire Service has shared the following update regarding the recent Ipsoot Mountain wildfire:
We are continuing to respond to V31717, located at the base of Ipsoot Mountain, Southwest of the Village of Pemberton. Fire behaviour and activity increased significantly this afternoon on this incident, driven by slope, fuels and wind. Bucketing helicopters are responding. Current fire behaviour is aggressive Rank 3, a moderately vigorous surface fire with occasional candling. This fire is not an immediate threat to the community or to public safety, but a column of smoke is highly visible from HWY 99 and from Pemberton. The South and East flanks are priorities for response.
