2022 Local Elections | Notice of Nomination

Public notice is given to the electors of the Village of Pemberton that nominations for the offices of:

Mayor (One)
Councillor (Four)
School Trustee (One)

will be accepted by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person from 9am, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to 4pm Friday, September 9, 2022, excluding statutory holidays and weekends. Nomination forms for mayor and councillor are available at the Village of Pemberton office at 7400 Prospect Street and on the Village website at pemberton.ca/runningforoffice. Nomination forms for school trustee are available at the Village office and on the School District No. 48 website at sd48seatosky.org.

Nomination forms may be delivered by hand, mail, or other delivery service to: Village of Pemberton, 7400 Prospect Street, PO Box 100, Pemberton, BC V0N 2L0, by fax to: 604-894-6136, or by email to: admin@pemberton.ca.

Originals of emailed or faxed documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2022.

Qualifications for Office

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as member of local government or as a school trustee if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen.
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day, Saturday, October 15, 2022.
  • Resident of British Columbia at least six months before the day nomination papers are filed.
  • Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Campaign Period Expense Limits

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local election, the following expense limits apply for candidates during the campaign period:

Mayor $10,797.83
Councillor $5,398.92
School Trustee $5,398.92

Third Party Advertising Limits In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local elections, the following third party advertising limit applies during the campaign period: $809.84
