Dear members,

Following the latest Public Health Orders on November 19th , we are modifying our fitness centre timeslots to allow for increased sanitization measures between scheduled Fitness Blocks. If you have pre-booked any gym time after November 24th, expect there to be a slight change in your arrival and departure time. The 8:15 - 9:15 timeslot was discontinued, our apologies to those of you who had pre-booked this time. Thank you for your understanding.

You will also notice that the fitness room layouts have been modified, some equipment was removed to allow for the increased physical distance requirement of 3 meters between participants. For an updated list of the equipment found in each location please visit our website,www.pembertonrecreation.ca. These increased protective measures are being put into place to ensure we can keep recreating safely.

Were you registered or interested in attending a fitness class?

We are reviewing our fitness classes to meet current PHO requirements, expect classes to be modified and taught in a low intensity format. We would like to welcome back our dance classes, strength fitness classes, yoga, broga and meditation as of November 23rd, 2020. Please note all Kickboxing and Spinning classes are on hold for the time being and consult the pembertonrecreation.ca website for current class descriptions and times.

November 9 - Group Fitness Classes Suspended Until November 23

Dear patrons,

In response to the November 7th Orders from the Provincial Health Officer,  all group fitness classes are suspended until noon on November 23, 2020. Recreation Staff will be following up with participants whom registered as we go forward, please be assured if you have paid already we will compensate you accordingly.

​Individual use of fitness centre facilities will continue to be available, as our current protocols allow for adequate physical distancing and maximum occupancy has been reduced to 8 in Great Hall A and 10 in the Fitness Centre.

​​As shared last week, from November 9th, masks will be required in common spaces as per our COVID-19 Safety Plan. Measures such as occupancy limits, staggered access, hand hygiene, physical distancing protocols, individual cleaning protocols and increased facility cleaning must be adhered to avoid transmission of the virus.

​​We are reviewing our COVID-19 Safety Plan and protocols to ensure alignment with updated direction from the PHO and WorkSafeBC, and will share updates as required.

November 5 - Masks required as of November 9

Dear members,

As of November 9, 2020, non-medical masks will be required in our common areas (i.e. lobby, stairwells, hallways, elevator), to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This means all Staff and visitors will be required to wear masks when indoors​, unless one of the exemptions below applies. Disposable masks will be provided for those who arrive without one, however to protect the environment and avoid waste, we kindly ask that visitors and Staff bring their own.

There are several exemptions:

  • Children under two years of age; or children under the age of five years either chronologically or developmentally who refuse to wear a mask or face covering and cannot be persuaded to do so by their caregiver;
  • Persons with medical conditions who cannot safely wear a mask or face covering due to breathing difficulties, cognitive difficulties, hearing or communication difficulties;
  • Persons who cannot wear or remove a mask or face covering without assistance;
  • Staff who are in a non-publicly accessible area where they can maintain 2 metres of physical distance, such as in a private office, or who are within or behind a physical barrier such as Plexiglass;
  • Persons actively engaging in an athletic or fitness activity;
  • Persons consuming food or drink or;
  • For any emergency or medical purpose.

We are happy to announce that our soft opening went well, thank you for all your feedback and positive attitudes. We are ever so thankful for your support and understanding. On to the next phase of our re-opening! As many of you already know we have implemented health and safety protocols to ensure everyone’s safe return to their favourite activities.

There will be 2 bookable fitness spaces:

Main Fitness Centre: The newly re-organized Fitness Centre Strength space has a selection of Squat Racks, Plate-loaded Equipment, Cable Towers, Dumbbells, Weight Machines, Benches, Medicine Balls, Kettlebells, 2x Treadmills and 2x Keiser spin bikes

Great Hall A: Full set of Dumbbells, 2x Elliptical, 2 Keiser Spin bikes, 1x Recumbent Bike, Concept 2 Rower, Chest Press Machine, Seated Low Row Machine, Seated Lat Pulldown Machine, Medicine Balls

Each location has a reduced occupancy to accommodate the required physical distance of 2 meters.  The Fitness Centre is limited to 12 participants, while the Great Hall is limited to 10.
We are not accepting drop-ins at this time. New members are welcome.

Please note that patrons are required to change their footwear and store their personal belongings in the designated area by the reception desk.

Cancellation Expectations

Cancellation is NOT currently available online, please call 604-894-2340 or email pemrecinfo@pemberton.ca
It is of the utmost importance that patrons cancel their reservations if they cannot attend as spaces are limited!
Unattended bookings are being tracked. We are hopeful that we will not have to create a penalty for missed booking.

 

What are we doing to keep you safe?

  • Stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Patrons must sanitize their hands when entering the facility. Sanitization stations are available throughout the facility.
  • Patrons must wait in the designated areas outside the building before their allocated timeslot/program.
  • Patrons are required to change their footwear and store their personal belongings in the designated area by the reception desk.
  • 2 meter physical distancing is required.
  • Directional arrows, designated entrances/exits have been established to control the flow of traffic in the facility.
  • Demographic centered-schedule through staggered programming.
  • Increased cleaning protocols and expectations
  • Increased outdoor air intake as recommended by Work BC.

Failure to maintain physical distancing could result in the closure of the facility.

As always we welcome all constructive feedback.
We will continue to modify our operations and protocols to meet the changing guidelines of the Provincial Health Authorities.

We are overjoyed to announce that the Pemberton & District Community Centre is re-opening in a COVID-19 modified format.

Things are definitely different:

  • The hours of operation for the facility are Monday to Thursday from 2-8pm.
  • The following time slots are available: 
  • 2-3pm, 3:15-4:15pm, 4:30-5:30pm, 5:45-6:45pm, 7-8pm
  • Members are now going to BOOK their gym time in advance through our website www.pembertonrecreation.ca
  • Or directly through pemberton.perfectmind.com .
  • There will be NO drop-ins at this time - but we are accepting new members.
  • Step by step instructions have been included HERE on how to Book your workout time slot.

The 3 facilities to choose from include:

  • Fitness Centre: The newly re-organized Fitness Centre Strength space has a selection of Squat Racks, Plate-loaded Equipment, Cable Towers, Dumbbells, Weight Machines, Benches, Medicine Balls and Kettlebells. 
  • Room C: Mix it up with both Cardio and Strength. Room C is equipped with Keiser Spin Bikes, Concept 2 Rowing Machine, a wide selection of Dumbbells, Battle ropes, Kettlebells and Weighted or Medicine Balls. 
  • Great Hall – Cardio: Sweat it out and get your Cardio Fix on in the cardio-only room. The Great Hall boasts a diverse selection of Treadmills, Ellipticals, Bikes, Keiser Spin Bikes and a Recumbent Bike. 

New Members can now purchase Fitness Memberships online. This means our patrons can easily purchase any passes that we currently offer through our website www.pembertonrecreation.ca. We hope to minimize cash transactions.

To ensure access for all, specific days and times have been allocated for the vulnerable population on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. This time slot is not bookable online - please call to register 604-894-2340 or email aleggett@pemberton.ca

It is imperative that Members please adhere to the following;

- Stay home if sick or displaying any COVID-19 symptoms

- Please arrive in workout clothes with gym shoes in hand 5 minutes prior to your booking.

- Change rooms and showers are closed.

- Use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility

- Check in with attendant at the front desk

- Maintain 2 meters physical distance at all times

Value Added Classes (which are included in your membership) are being offered as well as 6 am Fitness Classes (not included in your membership) - please refer to our website for days and times of all group fitness classes.  The process will be the same as described above. Participants must register prior to the class in order to attend www.pembertonrecreation.ca .

-Drop-ins will not be available.

-Classes will be held outdoors on the Community Lawn or in the Great Hall.

-Please arrive 5 minutes before the classes, late comers will not be able to attend at this time.

The Pemberton & District Community Centre and The REC (Youth & Seniors Centre) will remain closed for May. We appreciate your understanding while this preventative measure is in place and apologize for any inconvenience.

Refunds for programs that were cancelled in March and April have been processed and should arrive shortly by mail. If you do not receive your cheque or would like confirmation of which programs you were refunded for, we ask that you email mhepner@pemberton.ca

Although reopening in June still remains a possibility, we understand that circumstances have changed and therefore will be processing both May and June refunds at the same time.

Pemberton & District Community Centre Operations Temporarily Suspended

The Village of Pemberton is committed to our Community’s health and safety. Out of an abundance of caution, the Pemberton & District Community Centre and The Rec (Youth & Seniors Centre) will be closed from Saturday, March 14th until further notice.

We appreciate your understanding while this temporary preventative measure is in place and apologize for any inconvenience. The Village will continue to monitor this changing situation daily and will provide regular updates via our Facebook page and website.

Refunds will be issued for all program and venue rental fees; Village Staff will be following up directly with program participants to advise of the closure.
