Burning Permits
The Village of Pemberton may issue a Burning Permit within Village Boundaries for the purpose of burning organic material only and up to 1 cubic metre in size.
A Burning Permit may be picked up from the Village office Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm except statutory holidays.
A permit is issued for maximum of 2 weeks. No permits will be issued during a fire ban restriction.
Before burning - Please check:
- That no campfire bans or open fire restrictions have been issued - www.bcwildfire.ca or toll free 1-888-336-7378.
- Check the venting index on the Environment Canada website for air quality conditions: www.env.gov.bc.ca/epd/bcairquality/readings/ventilation-index.html or call 1-888-281-2992.
- refer to and comply with the Wildfire Act and Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation: www.bcwildfire.ca
- Do not leave fire unattended.
- Ensure fire is extinguished before leaving the area.

CONDITIONS
Burning Permits issued by the Village of Pemberton are subject to the following conditions:
1. The permittee shall be
responsible for fires authorized by the permit.
2. The permittee shall take the following precautions to prevent
escape of fires authorized.
2.1 No burning is to be done when there is a wind strong enough to cause sparks or other burning materials to land on any other combustible material.
2.2 Light material such as paper, dry leaves, etc. that could fly away while on fire, must be covered by heavier material or held down by wire mesh or other suitable means while being burned.
2.3 No burning to be done within 15m of slash brush, dry grass, wooden buildings, trees, or any other flammable material.
2.4 The fires must be attended and safe-gaurded at all times while burning.
3. The permittee shall extinguish all fires completely on or before the expiry date of the permit: or shall extinguish them forthwith upon suspension or cancellation of the permit; or when instructed to do so by an agent of the Municipality.
