Community Garden

Community GardenThe Pemberton Community Garden Committee was formed in the spring of 2006 as a select committee of the Village of Pemberton Council. A call for volunteers was put forward and four members of the community, along with the Mayor of Pemberton, were appointed to the committee. A location within One Mile Lake Park was secured and the Pemberton Creek Community Garden came into being.

Historically, agriculture and food production have been mainstays of the Pemberton Valley. The rapid development of Whistler Resort since the mid 1980s has had a large influence on Pemberton as it brought to the Valley tourists, residents, and opportunities. The recent trend of agri-tourism is one of the examples of how Pemberton has adapted to changes by building on its historical roots. Agriculture has always been and will continue to be an important aspect of the Pemberton Valley.

Involvement & Learning

The main goal of the Garden is to provide residents of Pemberton with an opportunity to get involved and learn about growing in a supportive and communal environment. As a community project, the garden is the product of local volunteerism and is reliant largely on donations of equipment and services.
